In a huge privacy ruling, LinkedIn has been hit with a €310 million fine ($335 million) by the EU’s privacy watchdog over its targeted advertising practices and data handling. The Irish Data Protection Commissioner (DPC) found that LinkedIn was processing personal data without sufficient legal grounds, violating users’ rights under GDPR (the EU’s strict privacy regulation).
With LinkedIn now committed to revising its ad practices to meet DPC guidelines, this case raises a big question: could more social platforms face similar fines in the future?
Stay tuned as this ruling might spark a wave of data privacy overhauls across the tech industry. Let’s see if this leads to better user privacy across platforms!
